We’ve all had those days when we chow down on our dinner while simultaneously having an endless Insta scroll on our phones, and shopping online for all the new ‘must-haves’.
Yet we still feel like there’s never enough. Heck, we feel like we’re not enough.
We get all whiny to our partners, fear challenges, and stress over everything.
Ultimately, we end up overindulging and feeling guilty about it.
If you’re nodding your head right now, don’t worry.
We’re right there with you!
And, we know what might help. ;)
If you’d like a boost of confidence and want to enjoy more balance in your life, healing your root chakra might be THE place to start.
Chances are you’ve heard of the 7 chakras if you love holistic wellness.
The root chakra is the foundation of all of them.
According to reiki masters, to address our chakra blockages we need to start with the root chakra first.
To open your root chakra is to lay the foundation of your energy system.
In Sanskrit, they call it Muladhara and represent it by the color red.
It's located at the base of the spine in the human body—and it makes us feel grounded, confident, and safe.
You know your root chakra might be out of alignment if you’re experiencing any of the following symptoms.
In the physical body, you might be manifesting issues like arthritis, constipation, and bladder or colon problems.
Emotionally, root chakra imbalance leads to a sense of lack.
We might impulsively start overeating, hoarding, have sexual issues, feel unloved, have low self-esteem, and are unable to stay grounded.
On the other hand, if our root chakra is balanced we’re flowing with life at ease.
We feel secure, confident, and dare to face any challenge.
If you think your root chakra is blocked, here are some ways to help you realign and ground down. Can we get a namast-yay?
Free your wild child and go barefoot! Yep, we mean it. Dip your toes into sand, mud, or simply just walk around your yard barefoot. Leave the shoes at home and get your feet dirty. This practice electrically reconnects you to the earth, and studies show it can have positive effects on your body and mind too. Allowing your skin to touch the natural ground can reduce your stress levels, depression, and ease anxiety.
Treat yourself with nourishing earthy meals. Nurture your body with foods that come from the ground - like root vegetables. Since such foods come from the mother earth, it is believed that they have energy from the earth and they ground you.
Snuggle up with a hot cup of tea & essential oils. Cozy up to a hot ginger root tea and diffuse essential oils. We recommend using oils with similar vibrational energy to the root chakra such as cedarwood, sandalwood, eucalyptus, or ginger. These promote mental clarity, have soothing & relaxing benefits, and will help you wind down after a long day of work.
Practice these yoga poses: release all the tension, let go of excess energy, and invite new clean prana (life force) into your body with these root chakra-opening yoga poses.
Start with standing up in a mountain pose and take a moment to notice your breath. Next, move between any of the standing balancing asanas such as warrior I, eagle pose, triangle pose, and tree pose. All of these poses challenge your stability and balance, helping you achieve it in your everyday life too.
Soak up the nature around you. Get outside to feel the breeze on your skin, smell the fresh air, and feel the sun warming you up. Once you become conscious of the elements around you, you’ll feel at peace instantly. The best? The benefits of spending time in nature can be felt for up to 7 hours afterward. Say hello to a beautiful, tranquil day filled with focus and intention.
Center yourself with these crystals and visualize healing. Take a few minutes a day for visualizing and holding the intention of the root chakra opening. Holistic wellness experts suggest wearing the crystal around your neck and breathing for a few minutes. They recommend onyx, hematite, black tourmaline, and red agate because they're "an expression of that same root chakra energy."
Most importantly, whatever you choose, make sure you’re being kind to yourself and don’t try to force the process. Give it time, make it your me-time ritual, and a part of your unique self-care routine.
